How to Live in an Age of Miracles

My name is Bryan and this is my repository of deep-dives into how humanity is evolving and how we can make sense of it in our daily lives.
This site is devoted to long-form writing that aims to sit at the crossroads of philosophy, technology, history, and culture, and using these different lenses, to explore and find not just patterns around what is happening on a societal scale, but also what it means to us in our daily lives and how to live with it on an individual scale.
This isn’t a news site, nor is it a productivity blog.
What I hope it will be is a place for educated, curious readers to slow down, trace the deeper currents shaping our world, and come away with ideas that can be lived with and experienced in the myriad of textures in our own rich and unique lives.
Some of the current projects under development capture the kind of intellectual curiosity we hope to cultivate:
Fair warning: while these posts contain my original thoughts and ideas, they will be written with the help of A.I.
From being my intellectual sparring partner to hone my thoughts to helping synthesise each dialogic thinking sessions into articles for consumption before editing, each article will have had A.I.’s touch.
If you cannot stomach that, read no further.
But I will continue using A.I. to help sharpen my thinking and help me spread important ideas. I’ve been given access to history’s greatest mirror to the collective human consciousness (thus far) and I plan to make the most of it.
(All images will have been created by me personally though if that helps.)
On Society and its system of power: Historically, capitalism describes three great actors: the masses, business, and government. But this system is beginning to buckle in the current century due to technology’s ability to cut human labor (first physical and now intellectual) out of the balance of power. This piece explores what avenues are possible for society to maintain its soul in the face of this and how perhaps an emerging fourth pillar is the answer to bringing back balance back to our system.
On AI. Another ongoing project looks at the various ways in how artificial intelligence might serve not as a replacement for human cognition but as a companion in it, performing roles no other tool can. Here we experiment with different roles: AI that shows us how the average person might catch what we personally miss, one that helps us think across disciplines, or helps refine ideas through dialogue, or even weave disparate threads into a coherent narrative. Each metaphor opens up not only a new way of understanding AI, but also a fresh way of understanding ourselves.
